The Auntie Bakery & Deli is a cozy bakery spot tucked into a small parking lot on Royal Oak Avenue in Burnaby. This local bakery blends traditional European pastry offerings with a distinct Vietnamese deli twist, making it a practical stop for both a quick coffee fix and a satisfying sandwich.

Regular visitors often come here for the special banh mi sandwich, which stands out for its balance of fresh vegetables, savory pâté, and tender meats on a baguette that manages to be both soft and pleasantly crisp without being too brittle. The sandwich size is quite generous, making it a filling alternative to the usual fast food options nearby, especially popular around lunchtime for folks working or living in the Metrotown area. Pairing the banh mi with a rich, smooth Vietnamese-style coffee or a latte feels like an easy, reliable routine for locals who want a flavorful yet casual meal or snack.

The bakery side leans on a range of classic pastries like butter and almond croissants, cream puffs, and several cake options including Black Forest and Tiramisu, which look inviting even if the main draw for most is the deli sandwiches and sausage rolls. The homemade sausage roll here is noted for its generous size and more pork-forward filling, suitable for those who enjoy a heartier pastry offering.

Atmosphere-wise, expect an unpretentious, no-frills vibe typical of neighborhood bakeries. Service is friendly and straightforward, making it comfortable for a quick grab-and-go or a brief sit-down if you catch a moment during a slower part of the day. The modest setting means it’s less about lingering with a book and more about efficient, honest eats to fuel your day.

This spot will appeal most to locals and passersby looking for solid deli sandwiches with a cultural twist, freshly baked pastries, and well-made coffee — ideal for weekdays or early afternoons. It’s not a place for elaborate dining but rather a dependable stop to satisfy a craving for something fresh, substantial, and a little different from the usual chain options.

The sandwich is in a decent size, much more fulfilling than having a Burger at MacDonald’s. Taste excellent, one of the best in metrotown area! i don’t have the stomach for other bakery items but they look very nice. I will come back for the huge homemade sausage roll. The baguette used for the sandwich is not as crispy as Saigon Bites though. No tips requested at the card machine.

Honestly the best banh mi I’ve ever had in the lower mainland. I randomly decided to try this place on UberEats and it was the best decision ever. The bread is soft yet crispy and it doesn’t scrape the roof of my mouth. The flavours of all the veggies, sauces, pate and meat taste immaculate. Sandwich + viet coffee combo was only $13 which is a steal! 10/10 recommend

A nice little Vietnamese sub place tucked away in a small parking lot in Central Burnaby. Ordered a few special banh mi sandwiches and tried the sausage rolls here. The banh mi is very filling. Nice amount of pate and butter and nice bun as well. A bit salty with the soya sauce but overall really tasty. The sausage roll was nice too, very large, but more of a pork based sausage roll. I liked both and glad I gave this place a try.

So good that I completely forgot to take a proper photo… and this is the evidence: just the wrapper and a few crumbs left . The sandwich is huge, packed with veggies, and the pickles are incredible! The packaging is beautiful and meticulous, which makes it even more impressive. The owner and staff are super friendly. They officially open at 9 AM, but you can call ahead to order earlier. I wish they were open 7 days a week . Highly recommend the House Special & Chicken Sandwich – you’ll be hooked!”

If you have been looking for a fantastic bánh mì and Vietnamese coffee then congratulations, you've found it. Aunties is definitely the spot! The price point is great, especially for the bánh mì and drink combos, but more importantly, it's absolutely delicious! The bread is perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and stuffed with high quality ingredients and full of flavor! I highly recommend!!
